Training on sustainable agriculture and rural development [08.02.17]
The event took place on the 1-3rd of February in A.Baitursynov Kostanay State University, KazakhstanThe meeting was targeted at vocational training on Sustainable Rural Development for the representatives of the universities elaborating and implementing the new master´s program. Considering the urgent character and modernity of the issue in Kazakhstan and Russia, the training´s participants were offered to attend lectures of European and Russian experts in sustainable development. The theoretical basis of sustainability as well as current practical issues of sustainable rural development were covered. Attention was be paid to all three pillars of sustainability, social, economic and ecological. Participants were introduced to indicators and models of sustainable rural development. Projects and case studies on sustainable rural development in Europe and Russia were be presented, experience seared and current problems highlighted. Besides, there was a discussion of the curriculum elaborated by the SARUD academic partners in order to address the current challenges of education in the area of rural development and agriculture in Russia and Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by the universities elaborating the SARUD master's program: Omsk State Agrarian University named after P.A. Stolypin, Michurinsk State Agrarian University, Buryat State Academy of Agricilture named after V.R. Filippov and Novosibirsk State Agrarian University represent Russia. From Kazakhstan, in addition to Kostanay State University, there were S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University and Sh.Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University. The Russian and European experts, who were invited to share their experience, presented accordingly Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (Prof. Dr. Alexander Merzlov), Warsaw University of Life Sciences-SGGW (Dr hab., prof. SGGW Axel Schwerk) and Czech University of Life Sciences (Prof. Dr. Michal Lostak), as well as the SARUD project coordinator, the University of Hohenheim, Germany (Prof. Dr. Martin Dieterich).
