2nd coordination meeting on national level in Kazakhstan took place at premises of the German Agricultural Center in Chaglinka on the 20-22nd of June. The participants are members of the local working groups from three pilot universities (S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University, A.Baitursynov Kostanay State University and Sh.Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University), elaborating the new master program on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as the coordinating institution, the University of Hohenheim (Germany). The latter was represented by the scientific project lead Prof. Dr. Martin Dieterich, and the project manager Anna Voitenko.
The Kazakh universities were due to report on results of own stakeholder surveys and present the developed curricula of the study programs on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development for majors «Economics» and «Agronomy». Besides, on the meeting agenda there was a discussion on the practice partners and further stakeholder involvement as a core target for incorporation of the practical courses and internships into the learning process. Here the valuable experience, knowledge and technical capacity of the German Agricultural Center provides a solid base for cooperation between universities and business sector and implementation of the practical ideas into the study programme.
The project partners also discussed the proposals on content and programme of study trips & didactic trainings, to be hold at the Universities of Life Sciences in Warsaw and Prague in October 2016. Necessity to create the inter-institutional and inter-disciplinary study groups for the participation at the study trips, which will in future be responsible for elaboration of the new modules and curricula, was confirmed by all partners during the discussions on new study contents and available at the partner universities competences.
The working meeting was finalized by the official visit to the Sh.Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University and excursion to the example of the sustainable land management and nature preservation in Kazakhstan - the National Park «Burabay».
