Kick-off of the MSc “Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development”   [23.10.17]

The brand-new master´s program in the frame of the “SARUD” project is launched in Russia and Kazakhstan

The aim of the project is to educate students by transferring deep modern knowledge in sustainable agriculture and rural development with inclusion of manifold practical aspects. The study courses were adapted to the needs of each specific region in both countries and are now offered at seven partner Universities: 

Omsk State Agrarian University 

Michurinsk State Agrarian University

Buryat State Academy of Agriculture

Novosibirsk State Agrarian University

S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University

A.Baitursynov Kostanay State University

Sh.Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University

For teaching the newly launched interdisciplinary program there were selected the highly-qualified lectures, who earlier attended further professional trainings at the SARUD European partner universities; the latter also supervised the elaboration of the curricula. The curriculum of the master´s course, which is offered with the major in economics, includes also contents from the ecological, social and technological modules. The “special offer” is provided by Omsk State Agrarian University where the study program includes additionally the major in agronomy precisely concentrating on the aspects of sustainability, bioeconomy and innovations in agriculture. Those, who are interested in management in rural areas, should have a closer look at the master’s course offered at Novosibirsk State Agricultural University.

While the first SARUD students are about to start their educational journey in sustainable agriculture and rural development, the Russian and Kazakh experts, who elaborated the master´s program, are confident in its successful implementation and eager to continue further cooperation with the academic partners and also practitioners regarding possible improvements of the curricula.
